So here it is… this month in pictures…and bullets.

• Kevin returned!
• We went on a date to Oscar’s Gastropub. The service was great, other than them being out of every beer I wanted to drink, and the food was amazing. I liked the fried green beans best, but check out my dinner? Yes, and entire HALF of a chicken with veggies under it and macaroni and cheese on the side. Kevin’s portions were just as HUGE. It was a great to sit and talk with Kevin though. Almost like old times…you know, before The Boy. Now that he’s older it’s a lot easier to leave him for a few hours without worrying about him!

• We had The Boy’s 3 year pictures taken. The weather was finally nice enough (i.e. not raining!!!).

• We attending Riverfield’s auction. We bought the table The Boy’s class made. What can I say? I have turned in to a sentimental sap.

• The Boy is really enjoying having Kevin around. (So am I)  TB especially enjoys playing with daddy. Apparently he’s more fun than I, and I will take it!

• Those who know me know that I like to have crazy shoes for TU sporting events. I’ll post an anthology of my shoes some day, but for now, these are the latest in the long line of fun shoes!

The Shoes

• The Conference USA Tournament was in Tulsa. We took The Boy to a couple of games. He liked it, and was REALLY mad when “the blue guys” were no longer playing. Kevin ran in to his high school coach who is now coaching at Houston, so that was kinda neat too.

• In a (not so) stunning turn of events, last Friday it was 70 degrees. Saturday it was 32 and snowing. The Boy LOVES the snow, and he got Kevin to take him out to play! They threw snowballs and had a great time.

• The Boy has started soccer. He’s actually pretty good and keeps up with the four year old in the group. Kevin dislikes it when I snap his picture, but he looks too good not to. Plus, it is fun to take pictures. I took over 150 of TB’s first day of soccer. Not kidding. You can see them all online. LOL!

• I managed to get accepted in to the next level of the leadership development program at work, so I am once again swamped there. I also took on a few national projects, which is exciting and stressful at the same time.
• Kevin’s still working out and staying fit. We’re not sure if he will get picked up for the playoffs somewhere or not. The basketball market is much like the rest of the economy right now. In the tank.
• I’ll try to update more often. I promise.

The Lettermen’s reception and silent auction was a big hit! We raised over $3000. They money goes to support TU athletes through the purchase of stoles, rings, and letter jackets/letter blankets. We also help sponsor various events throughout the year. Anyway… at the reception, I met this gentleman below. For the life of me I cannot remember his name right now, but I have to say, he was very entertaining. He played football at TU in the 1940s! Oh, the stories he told! He picks up his buddy and former teammate (not pictured) every year and drives up for Homecoming. I love it!

What fun would the silent auction be if I did not win something? Yes, it’s a football autographed by Garrett Mills and Adrian Peterson.  I’m sorry Vikings loving family, this ball is mine.

After I finished cleaning up and all that, I stopped by TU on Tap downtown. It was great to see old friends, but also great to get home and go to sleep. I was tuckered out!

Saturday morning, The Boy and I went to the Rowing Reunion in Catoosa. It was a lot of fun. I’ll get the pics up soon of him “rowing.” He wants to do it so badly!

TU lost the football game, but our season has been rough. OK. We mostly stink, but such is the life of collegiate athletics. I still go to games.

September 26, 2009 TU vs. Sam Houston State

On the 25th of April, The Boy, our babysitter (thank goodness), and I attended the Midwest Intercollegiate regatta at Catoosa (TU’s home for Women’s Rowing). I brought a babysitter so The Boy could run around a bit and I could visit a lot. Turns out that is a great way to do it and I will do it that way again. TU won the title, and it was nice other than some crazy wind. Jan Zink knows how to throw a party, because there were rolls in the morning, mimosas and brunch around mid-afternoon, and a nice band playing in the tent.  Several ladies were there from when I rowed at TU, and it is always nice to catch up with them too.  The Boy passed out early on in the awards ceremony and slept right on through the loud eruption of cheers when it was announced that TU won.

Unlike some graduate school programs where you have the option to not do a thesis (really, I ran out of time, so that was not an option), my program requires that you make a presentation and defend your internship, so I did that on Tuesday, April 28. Wow. Over two weeks ago. Anyway, my chair ended up being a real big jerk, but then I found out he was arguing with the other two people about giving me a B versus an A. Whatever. I seriously sat in the hall and thought I would not pass. Yes, he was that bad. Anyway, I passed and was awarded an A, but I need to make a few changes before I put my project on the shelf. No problem. Once we are a little more settled, I will wrap it up.

Tuesday evening, I went to the TU All-Sports Banquet. I love going to the banquet. The food was good, and we sponsor a table each year, so I was able to invite a couple of guests and then was surrounded by some of the amazing women of the Rowing team. Yes, I wore a dress.

On Friday, May 1, we tried to go to Riverfield Rocks, but The Boy was having some intestinal issues at dinner before the event, so I took him home. Oh well. Next year.

The next week was full of the daycare drama (parts 1 and 2), which culminated in driving … S-L-O-W-L-Y … to Oklahoma City to pick up Kevin. The team messed up his ticket, and while he could have arrived later in Tulsa… possibly even the next day… we decided that I would drive to OKC to pick him up. Fortunately, my neighbors took The Boy so I could drive in peace, which turned out to be vital, as the trip was extra long and slow due to some road construction. How slow? My two hour drive turned in to almost three hours. I saw a lot of this…

I think the boat with a trolling engine could have gone faster than we were moving. Oh well… I still ended up with “the prize.”

Sleepy after 30+ hours of travel

We arrived home while The Boy was still with the neighbors, so we were able to get all of Kevin’s things in the house before reuniting our little family.

Reunited

We were all a bit tired, but the long trips were definitely worth it.  Kevin arrived home just in time for me to battle a nice cold or something. I kept working all week, but today, I caved and stayed home. It’s amazing how some additional rest can be incredibly healing. That and some fresh orange juice. I love our juicer…and our Vita-Mix. Cold ice included smoothies are good for a sick throat.

Other than that, I have nothing. Well, I take that back. Happy Mother’s Day, Kevin bought me an imac. OK, I am going to be sharing, but basically this is my computer now. I love it already, and it arrived none too soon as Peppermint (my dell laptop) is sick too. Fortunately, my auto back-up worked and all of my “stuff” is now on the imac. I am still figuring out all the cool tools and finding programs to replace some of the window things I used, but overall, I am satisfied. Of course, it has been 12 hours… LOL!
