We’re coming home!

It looks like we will be home Sunday evening. We hope to relax for about 10 days before making our whirlwind U.S. tour. There is a lot to do here before we go! Too much stuff…too few bags!

Ultrasound No. 1

I am sorry to say that my scanner in France will be unable to produce a picture from the ultrasound. Rather than giving me a nice print out, like they would in the U.S., the pictures are of similar style to an x-ray or maybe an MRI. I will try again when we are back in the U.S. I’m not so sure I am real keen on everyone seeing my insides anyway!

We’ve taken a wrong turn…

The driver apparently got lost, because we have hit a dead end. In other words, the BCM lost last night. The good news is that we get to go back to the US for a while! We miss Ginger (our dog) dearly, and I am looking forward to some time fishing with my family.

First ultrasound

We had the first ultrasound of the baby today. Unfortunately, Kevin is in Strasbourg, so he could not attend, but I did take a friend with me. When I got there though, the ultrasound doctor spoke great English, so she did not have to translate. The doctor says the fetus looks good…two arms, two legs, a beating heart and all of that. It is very small yet… 4.5 centimeters or so (about 1.5-1.75 inches). I think it looks like an alien. Anyway, we can pick up all of the stuff Monday, so hopefully, I can scan the picture and get it on here then.

Road to Bercy includes a loss…

Well, I can’t even say it was close. The BCM lost 99-68 at Strasbourg, but even worse, we lost another player. Saulius Kuzminskas may have suffered some knee ligament damange in last night’s game, and he is probably finished for the season. We also played without Rahshon Turner, who was injured in the game Tuesday night. There is some hope that he will return for Saturday’s game though.

The highlight and great news of the evening is that Kevin returned to the court and ended up playing 22 minutes! To make the night even better, he shot 100% (2/2 2pts, 3/3 3pts, 2 rbds, 13 points, 15 evaluation)!

Bercy or Bust: A Victory Over Strasbourg

In the first game of the second round, Gravelines won at home against Strasbourg, 70-61. The defense by BCM down the stretch was key to defeating last year’s French Play-off Champions. Now Gravelines must go on the road and steal a game in order to move on to the next round. Like the last round, this is a best of three series.

Kevin is looking to make his return on Thursday. He will probably not play more than 5-10 minutes while he gets back in to it, but his return will be good for both him and the team.

So are the "Days of Our Lives"

We certainly cannot say that our life is boring. Yesterday the local paper, Voix du Nord, printed some false statements about Kevin, saying he is not really injured. The team doctor, who has not even looked at Kevin’s knee, was in the paper saying that Kevin is cleared to play and basically there is nothing wrong with him. It all boils down to a bunch of slander and libel. Our agent in France spoke with the author of the article and cleared things up, so hopefully the new article will appear in today or tomorrow’s paper.

On a slightly more cheerful note, Kevin says his knee is getting better, and hopefully that will continue over the next few days so he can play again. If it does not, we have decided that we will visit the American Hospital in Paris. They have a sports medicine center, and the doctors speak both English and French.

And so… as the world turns, so do the days of our lives…

Update on Kevin’s knee

Well, Kevin tested out his knee again today, and he reports that it is improving. It still is not good enough for him to play, but in one more week, he thinks he will be good to go. There is a possibility that he might be ready sooner, but he doesn’t think it will be in time for Tuesday’s game. Keep your fingers crossed!

Gravelines advances in the playoffs!

With a home victory last night (71-62) against Dijon, Gravelines advances to the next round of the playoffs and will face Strasbourg. The first game will be Tuesday in Gravelines, followed by the second game in Strasbourg on Thursday. If a third game is needed, it will be Saturday in Strasbourg.

Gravelines is the only team to win in two games in this first round (the top four teams have a bye, including Strasbourg), so they will be able to have more time to rest and prepare than some of the other teams that are playing now.

Gravelines wins AT Dijon!!!

In the first play-off game of the series, BCM came away with an overtime victory! The final score was 86-85. Cross your fingers for a win Thursday, which will secure our advancement in to the next round.

Kevin tested his knee today and found that after a little while his knee loosened up and as long as he didn’t jump too hard, he remained pain free. However, anything more than a light jog is painful. Hopefully he will be ready next week!
